In Chattanooga, Tennessee, Bianca Horton, a 26-year-old mother of 4, was tragically gunned down just before she was scheduled to testify in a trial that resulted in her daughter, Zoey,2, being paralyzed from a gun shot wound.
In January 2015, Horton and her daughter were shot along with the intended target Marcel Christopher, who was shot in the chest but survived. In addition, Tabitha Bowman,20, was shot but she died from her gun shot wounds.
All the victims were allegedly shot by Cortez Sims, who was 17 at the time of the shooting.
Investigators were distraught to discovered Horton’s body dumped on the side of the road with several gun casings adjacent to her body. Police believe that both shootings were connected and gang-related
Police officers had grown close to Bianca and her family as she thanked them for saving her daughter Zoey’s life after she had been shot.
Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke said he was devastated by Ms Horton’s death.
This loss of life is a loss to our entire community,’ he said. Ms Horton has been through so much. Her family and her daughter deserve our support and justice.
