Chicago Brothers Charged For Murder Of Dwyane Wade’s Cousin

According to NY Daily News, police have arrested two
brothers, who are also gang members, in Chicago. Both men,
who are on parole, were charged with murder for the fatal
shooting of the cousin of NBA star Dwyane Wade.
Darwin Sorrells Jr., 26, and Derren Sorrells, 22, face a firstdegree
murder rap for opening fire on another person and
unintentionally striking Nykea Aldridge.
Authorities claim the gang bangers didn’t intend to kill
Aldridge. The brothers intended to shoot a man who dropped
off women at a house in their neighborhood.
Apparently, the men exchanged looks with the driver and they
thought he was armed. In addition, the brothers knew the man
was not from that area.

Aldridge, the first cousin of the Chicago Bulls shooting guard, was
struck while pushing her 3weekold baby girl in a stroller on Chicago’s
south side.
One of the bullets hit Aldridge in the head and another struck her in an
arm. She died about 45 minutes later at a hospital. Nykea was near
the school because she planned to register some of her four children,
police said.
A security guard at the school helped police identify one of the
suspects and the driver also cooperated with police, Deenihan said.
The weapons have not been recovered, he said. School security
camera images helped police make the case.
Not only are the brothers known gang members but they had a history
of stealing cars. While Derren Sorrells should have been looking for
work, he was out committing murder during his daily break from his
mandatory ankle bracelet.
