Lateesha Laneil Ward, 26, was charged with 15 felony charges after being accused of infecting a minor with multiple sexually transmitted diseases and forging his father’s signature to keep him out of school.According to reports, Lateesha reportedly lived with the 15-year-old victim for about a year after he ran away from home. Judy Lively, a truancy officer, was notified when the victim was repeatedly absent from school.
Lively claims that the victim was chronically truant from Oak Hill High School and had been living with the 26-year-old Lateesha for more than a year.
The truancy officer also claimed that Lateesha gave the victim at least five “parental absence notes” to excuse his frequent absences.
Here’s more from a report online:
Capt. J.K. Sizemore, an officer charged with investigating the incident, spoke with the victim Monday shortly after he’d been released from a secure juvenile detention facility, he wrote. The boy told him he’d started “hanging out” with Ward when he was 14 and she invited him to spend the night at her home near Fayetteville shortly after his 15th birthday.
The victim said she started providing him with marijuana, Xanax and Ritalin, which one of her children was prescribed, Sizemore wrote. He said that on at least 10 occasions between July 2013 and December 2014 Ward gave him drugs, climbed atop him and had unprotected sex with him.
He told Sizemore that he had since contracted syphilis, gonorrhea and genital herpes, Sizemore wrote. The former two ailments were medically treated, but there is no cure for herpes.
The victim told Sizemore that Ward typically contacted him via Facebook when he lived with parents, and that she physically attacked his parents when they told her to cease contact with the victim, Sizemore wrote. Ward even violated an order from Fayette Circuit Court barring her and the victim from having contact with each other.
Given the information at hand, a warrant was issued for Ward’s arrest. Fayette County Deputies executed that warrant around 8:30 a.m. Thursday at Ward’s apartment in the 1300 block of East Main Street in Oak Hill.
“When Deputies (sic) attempted to take Lateesha Ward into custody, she and her current partner, who is also believed to be an under-age minor, allegedly attacked and fought with the officer,” according to a press release from the sheriff’s office. “Lateesha Ward was taken into custody without injury and is currently being arraigned in the Magistrate Court of Fayette County.”
